Cocoa farmer kidnapped in Ikom

Information reaching NEGROIDHAVEN has it that a kidnap incident has occurred in Ikom in Cross River Senatorial District.

Godwin Ukwu a Cocoa farmer and educationist was whisked off to a waiting speed boat by the Ikom Bridge from where he was snatched.

According to a source conversant with the development but, pleading anonymity, it is said the incident took place on Thursday ‘…by 7PM from his cocoa store in Ikom shortly after close of business. Some gunmen using a Siena bus ordered him into the car and whisked off.

‘Mr Godwin Ukwu is a level-headed blessed gentleman who rose from nothing to something by shear hardwork and focus in his Cocoa business. He is married with children. He also happens to be the President of Cocoa Association of Nigeria. He was taken to the bank of the Ikom Bridge river where a speed boat zoomed him off from the land of Ikom. Mr Godwin Ukwu is a business man in Ikom that hails from Obudu LGA.’

There has been a renewed wave of kidnappings across the state especially the state capital metropolis, Calabar.

As at press time, NEGROIDHAVEN is yet to reach the Nigerian Police for confirmation of the incident.
