Cheques presented to beneficiaries of Teacher Esien Ita Itam Educational Trust Fund

Four hundred students have so far benefited from the Teacher Esien Ita Itam Educational Trust Fund scholarship which has been running for 8 years NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

The Chairman of the Teacher Esien Ita Itam Educational Trust Fund, Chief Gershom Henshaw, who disclosed this in Calabar at the presentation of cheques for scholarship to fifty new awardees, said the scholarship scheme has so far gulped about seventy million Naira.

At this year’s scholarship awards, cheques were presented to fifty students drawn from ten schools in the southern senatorial district of the state with their scholarship cheques routed through their respective school principals.

Chief Gershom Henshaw commended the sponsors of the scholarship scheme, the former director general of the Department of State Services, DSS Mr Ekpenyong Ita, his late wife Mrs Temitope Ekpenyong Ita and their friends for their love and sacrifice in providing scholarship to indigent sound students.

In his remarks, a representative of the Obong of Calabar, Otuekong Frank Edet called on public spirited individuals and organisations to emulate the kindness of Ekpenyong Essien Ita by sponsoring the education of indigent students as education is the key to the future.

Responding a student from St. Patrick’s College and West African People’s Institute thanked the Teacher Esien Ita Itam Educational Trust Fund for their love for humanity and their investment in their education and promised to excel in their studies to reciprocate the gesture of the sponsor of the scholarship fund.

Similarly, a parent and principal of benefiting school expressed appreciation to God for using the foundation to advance the education of the young ones and prayed God to reward them bountifully.

The Teacher Esien Ita Itam Educational Trust Fund was conceived by the late wife of the former director general of the state security services, Mrs Temitope Ekpenyong Ita in honour of Teacher Esien Ita Itam Educational Trust Fund late father of the former DG of DSS.
