The House of Assembly All Progressives Congress, APC candidate for the ongoing Akpabuyo By-Elections has been adjuged to be pre-eminently qualified NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

Rt. Hon. (Otuekong) Orok Duke highlighted two reasons why he thinks Hon Bassey Ekpo Effiom the APC House of Assembly hopeful is pre-eminently qualified. He made the disclosure in Akpabuyo on Friday at the APC Chapter Secretariat while addressing Akpabuyo APC Chapter representatives.

According to Rt. Hon. Duke, the community involvement in Akpabuyo and the former stint as councillor in Akpabuyo Council Legislature of Bassey Ekpo Effiom postures him as the best for the legislative role.

Duke said, ‘(Bassey Ekpo Effiom) He is totally acculturated in the community that he lives in, he had honed his skills at the level of being a Councillor. So, he is eminently qualified’.

Speaking earlier, Duke a four tenure member of the state House of Assembly added that it was important that the ward (Atimbo East) from where the deceased lawmaker emanated from should be region that should produce a replacement for late Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Margaret Ironbar.

According to him, ‘I thought it would have been perfect for the community that produced late Ironbar to produce the next House of Assembly member. And that is what Akpabuyo did to throw up somebody from the same ward, to represent and finish the tenure and complete the good work that had gone on in Akpabuyo.

‘So, it was right for you to have chosen Bassey Ekpo Effiom. Because it is said that the masquerade that will dance well must have learnt his skills in the shrine. He has been a Councillor doing legislative work in the local council… then he can perform adequately well in the House of Assembly.’

On his part, while addressing the press after the meeting, Sir Maurice Effiwatt the chair of Akpabuyo APC By-Elections Campaign Council, commended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for supporting the by-elections in Akpabuyo. He expressed confidence that the APC will coast to victory seeing that his party has ‘done more tours than the papa deceive party’, the PDP.
