The Deputy Governor of Cross River state, Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu OFR, last week, commissioned the renovated swimming pool section of the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium complex NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.
The event which took place in the state capital metropolis has irked a cross section of Nigerians who are indigenous to and resident in the state.
According to some, the state government must have ran out of ideas. Others are taunting that the state government for eventually commissioning a ‘project’ after its 7 years in office. 
On Tuesday 21st May 2019, the state government commissioned a unit of solar powered street light with pomp and pageantry rolling red carpet for the event in the state. Ironically, it was a project embarked upon by NYSC corpers. Again, another photograph featured Prof Esu commissioning a borehole water project in the state. Last week, he commissioned the renovated swimming pool.
Cross Riverians have slammed the state Deputy Governor for the outing. Kanu Adom has said: ‘Others state government are commissioning bridges, road, flyovers etc, cross river state professor’s are busy commissioning tap and swimming pools is a shame’. Etim Boy Sunday said ‘Deputy Governor commissioning borehole and traffic light,what a shame, come who have bewitched Cross River politics? You are even happy posting it for people to see, I’m not surprised, when constituency project is on going in almost all the streets of Lagos State yet nobody think of commissioning but ordinary borehole is floating in social media like Obudu cargo airport project and Bakassi deep seaport project, wuna no-go wise’. Agba Jalingo opined that ‘What the Deputy Governor commissioned yesterday in Calabar is not a swimming pool, rather it’s a “Brobdingnagian natatorium.”
