One of the political allies of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in Cross River State, Elder David Okon, has inaugurated coordinators of Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council in the state.

Okon, the chairman of the APC Elders Forum, was the standard-bearer of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Cross River state.

He has been the chairman of Tinubu Support Groups in the state as well.

Speaking during the inauguration of state, senatorial and local government coordinators of Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council for Cross River in his office in Calabar, Elder Okon gave reasons why he believed that Asiwaju Tinubu would win the forthcoming presidential election.

“I have said this on several occasions without any equivocation that Asiwaju Tinubu and his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima, will win in first ballot. This is because apart from the level of acceptability and love for Asiwaju Tinubu across the country, the campaign is generally grassroots-based.

“The phenomenon called Tinubu has, apart from touching lives, made things to happen where it would not have ordinarily worked. What he did in Lagos State stands him out as a colossus in capital, infrastructural and human development and I know all of us will want a situation where such feats are replicated in Nigeria.

“He is progressive and is one man that can make things to happen. This is why Nigerians want him; this is why he is going to win massively to create a new paradise with renewed hope for this nation.

“The support he is getting is from the grassroots and I know he does not play elitist or metropolitan politics,” Okon said.
