The Obong of Calabar and Grand Patriarch and Treaty King of the Efik Eburutu Kingdom, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, has condoled the family of Raymond Dokpesi and Daar Communications Plc, on the death of the media magnate, Late High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi.
Dokpesi was untill his death on May 29, 2023, at the age of 71, the Chairman Emeritus of Daar Communications, Owners of African Independent Television (AIT).
In a condolence message dated 1st June, 2023 and personally signed by the Obong of Calabar and Treaty King of the Efik Eburutu Kingdom, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, the Obong said the late media icon “would be remembered by so many positive deeds to humanity.”
The Efik Monarch specifically commended his giant stride in the field of media and communication industry, where he pioneered the establishment of Nigeria’s first private radio station, Ray Power FM, and later African Independent Television (AIT).”
“He left us at a time we were still in need of his invaluable contributions to the progress and stability of our dear country. We will all miss him and his gifted sense of entrepreneurship.
“While praying for the repose of Late High Chief Dokpesi’s gentle soul, I charge the bereaved family to be comforted by the departed Media Maverick’s “good works to humanity,” the Royal Father concluded.
