Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem has called on politicians in the state especially members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to commit to the common cause of improving the state.

The Speaker who made the call, Tuesday, at a dinner organised by the Bible Christian Crusaders Mission (BCCM) in honour of the Chief of General Staff to the Governor of Cross River state, at Marian hotel, Calabar, said politicians must come out of the chasm of chauvinistic partisan sentiments, eschew blackmail and rather form partnerships that promote statehood and the betterment of Cross Riverians.

Ayambem appreciated the Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar for his track record of loyalty and commitment to service and contributions to the development of the state, calling on the younger generation to borrow a leaf from the Chief of Staff, while stressing on steadfastness and adherence to values and constituted authority.

‘Hon Ironbar is a loyal man who have stood with the the governor over the years and his appointment as the chief of staff is not out of place,’ Ayambem stated.

Ayambem also said that the Governor Bassey Otu-led administration is resolute in returning the state to its pride of place as a destination for business and leisure, hence his agenda of ‘The People First’.

The Speaker who described Gov Otu’s impressive first month in office as ‘a sign of good governance and better things to come,’ assured that the present administration would have greater impact on the people due to the quality of the man at the helm of affairs and the caliber of technocrats that he is recruiting into his government.
