Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has congratulated his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on his 50th birthday anniversary, describing him as a loyal and supportive ally NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
Otu said Hon. Odey has been an exceptionally loyal and supportive deputy, who has never given him or Cross Riverians cause for concern.
He made this remarks when he paid a surprise visit to the residence of the deputy governor in Calabar, amidst a low-key birthday party organized by family members and friends.
Governor Otu said, “On behalf of all Cross River State, I wish my deputy a very happy birthday. Today, we celebrate a young man who has attained 50 years, but I want to tell you that he is a very loyal deputy who does every official assignment with alacrity.
“I am not one of those bosses that look down on any position, whether you are a messenger, there must be dignity of labour, and also the deputy governor must be shown the respect and given the ambience to prove it, so he is a deputy indeed.
“Consistently, he has always delivered on all official assignments in the same chemistry and that chemistry is natural, indicating it is what God wanted. As such, what God has put together, let no man put asunder.
“I want to thank all of you for coming to show us this support, like you are here for us, God will also be there for you.
Concluding, “We all just want to wish him a happy birthday, believing that God will strengthen and uplift him, every position given its responsibility, the moment you do it with all alacrity and loyalty, God will lift you and bless you all the days of your life. Let us continue to work together for the betterment of our dear state”
The celebrant and deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey while expressing gratitude to the leader and Governor of the state for choosing him as his deputy stated that “I am the most lucky deputy governor in Nigeria”.
Odey narrated his experiences representing the governor at several official fora within Nigeria and abroad. He highlighted the rare and unassuming relationship he shares with his boss, which stands out in comparison to relationships some governors and their deputies.
Continuing he added, “Before you all, I reaffirm my steadfast and unwavering loyalty to our leader and the Governor of our beloved state.
“Your presence at my home for my 50th birthday is very symbolic to me. I want to assure you, my boss, and other critical stakeholders, that my loyalty and support remain unwavering. Let’s unite, as our strength lies in unity, paving the way for our state’s growth and development”.
