On-the-spot assessment highlights progress, resource potential, and strategic priorities

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Projects and Programmes Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Raphael Adoga Morphy, has led a delegation of the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) of the National Economic Council (NEC), Abuja, on an on-the-spot inspection of major development projects across the state.

The assessment aimed to evaluate key infrastructure initiatives and identify areas with high development potential, in line with the NEC’s national economic planning agenda.

Speaking during the tour, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru, who led the NEC delegation, commended Governor Bassey Otu’s administration for its strategic focus and tangible results, especially in infrastructure and industrial development. He pledged the committee’s commitment to ensuring that the NEC gives due consideration to initiatives capable of advancing Cross River’s economic transformation.

One of the focal points of the inspection was the Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (also known as the Agro-Industrial Hub) at Adiabo-Tinapa, recently inaugurated by Nigeria’s Vice President. The hub is a flagship project aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and value-chain development.

Cross River State, known for its rich deposits of limestone, gypsum, titanium, tin ore, barite, ceramic hardstone, and salt, continues to present diverse investment opportunities. The Otu administration is leveraging these natural advantages to position the state as a national industrial and economic hub.

The delegation included top government officials such as Dr. Bong Duke, Chairman of the State Planning Commission; Hon. Pius Ankpo, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure; Hon. Dr. Michael Odere, Commissioner for Finance; as well as permanent secretaries, directors, and other key stakeholders.
