Preparations have intensified at the University of Calabar as the institution sets Monday, December 1, 2025, for the official investiture of its 12th substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Offiong Effanga Offiong NEGROIDHAVEN can report.
A statement released by the University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha, disclosed that the ceremony will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Conference Centre, UNICAL, starting at 11:00 a.m.
According to the release, the investiture will be hosted by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, DIG Udom U. Ekpoudom (Rtd), OON, who will lead other Council members and dignitaries to the event.
The university has also issued a mobilization directive, urging principal officers, provosts, deans, directors, and heads of departments to be seated before the arrival of the Pro-Chancellor, as part of the ceremony’s official protocols.
The statement further extended an open invitation to staff, students, alumni, and the general public to attend what it described as a significant milestone in the history of the institution.
The investiture will formally usher in the tenure of Prof. Offiong as the 12th Vice-Chancellor, marking a new phase in UNICAL’s academic leadership and governance.
