Today, the Cross River State Forestry Commission, CRSFC celebrates not just our Chairman, but a true statesman and an unwavering steward of our environment.

Your journey of service is an inspiring blueprint for impactful leadership. Before steering the Commission, you honed your expertise as a Member of the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2015, followed by a transformative tenure as Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Social Housing from 2015 to 2023 . These roles built the foundation for the principled and visionary leadership we witness today.

Since assuming office as Chairman and CEO of the Forestry Commission in 2023, your impact has been both profound and global in outlook. You have masterfully balanced the mandate of conservation with sustainable development. Under your guidance, the Commission has forged critical partnerships, with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UKPACT, and NGOs, to drive massive afforestation projects.

Your leadership extends beyond planting trees; it’s about systemic change. You have championed the automation of forestry revenue, courageously tackling illegal operations and bringing transparency and integrity to the sector, ensuring that our natural wealth benefits the people of Cross River state. Your commitment to global frameworks like the UN’s REDD+ programme reflects your dedication to securing a future where our forests are a source of climate resilience and economic prosperity for generations to come.

Sir, your passion is not just a professional duty; it is a deeply personal mission. As you mark this new age, the entire Forestry Commission family, management and staff, join your family, friends, and associates in thanking you for your personal sacrifices, your inspiring dedication, and your relentless pursuit of a greener, more sustainable Cross River.

May this new chapter of your life be blessed with abundant good health, renewed strength, and the peace of mind that comes from a life of purpose. We look forward to many more years of your impactful accomplishments.

Happy Birthday to Ntufam Rt. Hon. Deacon George O’ben-Etchi, PhD!
