The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has announced plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the physical coronation of its spiritual leader, Olumba Olumba Obu, with a week-long programme of activities in Calabar, Cross River state NEGROIDHAVEN has garnered.
The event, described as a Silver Jubilee celebration, will commemorate the coronation of the leader as the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords,” which took place on April 14, 2001.
Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday at the Senator Bassey Otu Hall in the State Library Complex, the spokesman of the organisation, Amah Williams, said the celebration would bring together members of the faith, traditional rulers and guests from different parts of the world.
Williams said the anniversary would highlight the spiritual significance of the coronation and its impact on members of the Brotherhood over the past 25 years.
According to him, the week-long programme will begin on April 13 with a flag-off ceremony at the BCS World Headquarters in Calabar.
He explained that April 14 would be observed as the commemoration of the divine coronation day, during which monarchs and traditional rulers from various parts of the world are expected to assemble to pay homage to the spiritual leader.
The spokesman added that activities scheduled for the celebration include a free medical outreach, academic conference and humanitarian programmes organised by members of the organisation across the world.
He further disclosed that a musical event featuring choirs from different countries would be held on April 18, while the grand finale of the Silver Jubilee celebration would take place on April 19 at the U. J. Esuene Stadium.
Williams said the event would feature prayers, spiritual activities and special blessings for humanity.
He also extended an invitation to Christians, non-Christians, traditional rulers, government officials and members of the public to participate in the celebration.
The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is an international religious movement founded in Nigeria and headquartered in Calabar, with followers across several countries.
