Cross River reconstitutes sports associations, appoints Orok Duke table tennis chairman

The Cross River State Sports Commission has reconstituted various sports associations, appointing former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, as Chairman of the Table Tennis Association NEGROIDHAVEN can say.

The inauguration, which held on Monday in Calabar, was conducted by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Etta Lawrence, who said members were selected based on their capacity and enthusiasm for the development of their respective sports.

Lawrence expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated officials would reposition sports in the state and drive grassroots development.

Speaking shortly after his appointment, Duke pledged to leverage his decades-long involvement in table tennis to revive the sport and produce a new generation of athletes.

He noted that he had been actively involved in the development of table tennis in the state since the late 1980s, adding that his focus would be on talent grooming and infrastructure development.

The reconstitution of the associations is part of efforts by the commission to strengthen sports administration and improve performance across competitions.
