CALABAR – The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cross River State, Prof. Francisca Bassey, has briefed the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Prof. Stephen Odey, on the institution’s preparations for the new academic session and recent developments in the university.
Bassey made this known during a courtesy visit to Odey’s office in Calabar on Monday as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the university and the state Ministry of Education.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Vice-Chancellor to brief the commissioner on the conclusion of the current semester and preparations for the next academic session following recent adjustments to the university’s academic calendar.
Bassey also presented updates on regulatory matters, including reports submitted to relevant regulatory bodies and feedback received from the National Universities Commission and university committees.
The Vice-Chancellor further briefed the commissioner on new international partnerships established by the university to expand academic exchange and strengthen research capacity.
Odey and senior officials of the Ministry of Education received the UNICROSS delegation during the visit.
The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress being made by the university management and commended the institution for what he described as its clear direction, strategic momentum and commitment to academic excellence.
Bassey thanked the ministry for its continued support and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to working with the state government to advance higher education in Cross River State.
The visit formed part of the university management’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders as it prepares for the forthcoming academic session.
