CALABAR— Presenters of the radio programme Pulse of Unity have urged Nigerians to embrace peaceful engagement and responsible conduct as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The call was made during the programme’s weekly live broadcast on Saturday, hosted by Ukorebi Esien and Efio-Ita Nyok.

Esien explained that Pulse of Unity focuses on peacebuilding, conflict management and community development. He stressed that the show is not a political platform but addresses tensions that arise from political activities.

“Pulse of Unity has come to make peace, to make sure that the 2027 election will be a better one that everyone will enjoy,” Esien said.

Nyok responded to Esien’s reference to the saying that when two elephants fight, the grass suffers. He noted that ordinary people would bear the consequences if political disagreements are not resolved before the polls.

The presenters emphasised dialogue and peaceful resolution over escalating conflicts. Esien observed that political tensions are already emerging in parts of Nigeria, including Calabar and other areas of Cross River State.

They invited listeners to share their experiences and views once the phone lines opened, and encouraged families and friends to join the discussion.
