Calabar – The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) community has commended the institution’s management for what it described as a transparent and merit-based selection process in the appointment of new Directors, Heads of Department, and Desk Officers across various academic and administrative units.
The appointments, which were announced in a statement by the UNICROSS Media Team on Thursday, include Prof. Emmanuel Uttah as Director of the Directorate of Research; Dr. Anthony Otiko as Desk Officer of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and Director of Career Services; and Dr. Emeng Iyeme as Acting Head, Department of Mathematics.
Others are Dr. Gertrude Fischer as Acting Head, Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Dr. Cassius Ogar as Acting Head, Department of Business Administration; Dr. Jonathan Osang as Acting Head, Department of Physics; Dr. Fidelis Abeng as Acting Head, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Moses Eka as Acting Head, Department of Biochemistry; Dr. Isaac Ubi Essien as Acting Head, Department of Anatomy; Dr. Benedict Idam as Acting Head, Department of Physiology; Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Ekeng as Acting Head, Department of Civil Engineering; and Prof. James Akpama as the pioneer Outcome-Based Education Desk Officer, following the establishment of the newly created Outcome-Based Education Desk.
Members of the university community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the appointments as a demonstration of the management’s resolve to strengthen institutional governance and enhance service delivery.
The management was also praised for its visionary leadership, commitment to fairness, and dedication to positioning UNICROSS for greater academic excellence and sustainable development.
The newly appointed Director of Research and Acting Heads of Department take over from their predecessors, whose tenures in office have come to an end, according to the statement.
All the appointments, the management said, reflect the university’s commitment to excellence, competence, and continuity in academic and administrative leadership.
The university community congratulated the appointees and wished them successful and impactful tenures in their respective offices.
