The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has charged newly inducted teachers to embrace resilience and uphold professional ethics in their duties. Bassey gave the charge on Wednesday during the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) induction ceremony hosted by the university.

In her address, the Vice Chancellor urged the inductees to draw inspiration from worthy role models and recognise the enormous responsibility of shaping learners’ knowledge, values, and character. She emphasised that teaching goes far beyond mere academic qualifications.

According to her, the profession requires discipline, integrity, resilience, and the ability to translate acquired knowledge into meaningful learning experiences for students. Bassey noted that these qualities are critical to building a functional educational system.

She further encouraged the new teachers to remain steadfast amid professional challenges and to uphold high moral standards. The VC reminded them to be mindful of the lasting influence of their conduct on their students and the wider society.

Bassey concluded by praying for divine wisdom and guidance for the inductees, stating that such virtues would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education in the state.
