The Accountant General of Cross River State, Mr Joseph Adie who was appointed by Governor Ben Ayade was on Monday released from Port Harcourt, River State, where he was invited by the EFCC to go and answer questions on misappropriation of the bailout funds. It is generally believed that Governor Ben Ayade did not use the funds to pay salaries as it was meant to be.

The Accountant General who was held by the EFCC for two days was interrogated seriously.

According to EFCC sources, the AG disclosed the location of about 5.8 Billion Naira equalization fund which he signed on behalf of the State, and which the two Ayades meandered.

The AG was who went to Port Harcourt on Friday last week, was finally released yesterday around 2pm.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Finance Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong was invited, and he is still with the EFCC as we speak.

The EFCC has extended its investigation beyond the bailout funds, and information available from people close to the investigation is that the financial records shows a very big disparity between income inflow and outflows. Someone in between, intercepts the monies and channels them elsewhere.

However, the main suspect of the investigation has escaped to China.
