International Skating Championship “Skate-a-Thon Calabar 2024” Set to Thrill Enthusiasts

Skating enthusiasts and sports lovers are in for a treat as SRHD Sports Management, in collaboration with the Nigeria Inline Skating Federation (NISF) and the Cross River State Sports Commission, presents the highly anticipated International Skating Championship, “Skate-a-Thon Calabar 2024.” The two-day event promises thrilling competitions and showcases the talents of skaters from across the country and beyond NEGROIDHAVEN has garnered.

Scheduled for June 14th and 15th, 2024, the championship will feature a wide range of skating disciplines and competitions at various venues in Calabar, Cross River State.

Day 1 of the championship, slated for June 14th, will see exciting competitions such as Roller Hockey, Roller Derby, 3000 meters and 5000 meters races for U-17 categories, Ramp Jump Skateboarding Freestyle, Artistry Roller Skating, Unbroken Train Movement, Skate Dance Choreography, and Long Jump. The venue for these events will be the Indoor Hall at the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium.

On Day 2, June 15th, participants will take to the streets for the Road Skate Marathon, with a 42 km marathon for males and a 21 km marathon for females. The marathon will provide a thrilling spectacle as skaters navigate the challenging course along the CICC Road.

Additionally, a Physically Challenged edition will feature a preliminary knockout event for 6-aside Roller Soccer, aimed at promoting inclusivity and showcasing the talents of differently-abled athletes.

Prior to the main championship, preliminary events will be held at the Cultural Centre on June 1st and 8th, 2024, at 4 pm, setting the stage for the grand finale on June 14th at the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium Indoor Hall, starting at 9 am.

Exciting prizes await the winners, with the top three finishers in each category receiving cash prizes of N100,000.00, N50,000.00, and N25,000.00 respectively.
