As the evils of economic downturn stirs us in the face , there is need for a corporate interest to salvage our dwindling economic from collapse.

This crusade must be devoid of such natural instinct for self preservation and selfishness, the duo which have now left us in the mess we are in today.

It is upon the foregoing that I have considered the above picture as apposite. We need to start thinking outside the box. We need to seek for better alternatives to improve our economy rather than selfishly milking our industrial oil sector to nothingness.

It is this measure that Saudi Arabia, UEA, Malaysia and other African countries of the world have adopted.

Enough of crying over 'spilt milk'. Enough of shedding and passing blame on previous administration. Nigeria must arise and that right early!

We are in recession no doubt.. But what are we doing about it? What are our leaders in the corridors of power doing to ameliorate and possibly alleviate this economic plague?

I suppose its high time we diversified this economy. Its high time we started looking into other sectors of the economy such as Agriculture, Commerce, Transport, Education, etc

Its time we take the bull by its horns and fight stagnancy in Niara – Dollar ratio, poverty, unemployment, crime, corruption, dependency ratio, budget deficits, etc all these must be fought doggedly and purposefully too if we must be extricated from our socioeconomic imbroglio.

Action is what is required- pragmatic action for emphasis. Let's take a cue from other developed and  developing countries of the world.

These "guys" are not just "wishing their country would one day be better" they are " working"! They are doing something to better the economy of their Nation.

It is often said that ' Everything rises and falls on Leadership' but I beg to differ- (At least for now). I have seen it in another light, which is that Even the Leaders would rise or fall based on others attitude and action.

To buttress my point,  Late. John F.Kennedy, a one time American President avers: "Do not ask what America will do for you, rather ask, what can I do for America!"

J.F Kennedy saw the need for a corporate coexistence, patriotism, as well as harmonious complementation of human efforts towards the achievement of Unity, Peace and Progress which today forms the pros and cons of our Nigerian Motto.

Finally, there is a cry for help! Our Nation is crying for a change of attitude towards her sick situation.

There is a clarion call to action, this call is not to one but to all.
It is a call to stand, not for APC or PDP but for a united Nigeria!

It is not to stand for Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa but for a harmony of the trio.

As I write this article, I am reminded of  Late Awolowo statue, one I once saw. My Father told me about this noble Statesman.. He preached a "One Nigeria".

The Call I propose is to all who will from henceforth, sincerely stand for a 'fused' Nigeria. An indefatigable, undefeated and progressive Nigeria.

The call says:

Arise O Compatriots
Nigeria Call Obey
To Serve her Fatherland
With Love, Strength and Faith

The Labour of Our Heroes Past
Shall never be in Vain
To Serve with All our Might
One Nation Bound in Freedom
Peace and Unity Reign!
