The Executive Governor and Deputy Governor of Cross River state, Professor Benedict Ayade and Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu respectively have come under intense fire from indigenes and residents of the state over grossly dilapidated Cross River State Library complex NegroidHaven.
As I write, criticisms against the eyesore of a the library pegged on the failure of the state government is trending owing to the sad commentaries of popular social media influencers, particularly, acclaimed social change agent Joseph Odok Esq., Ph.D., and Inyali Peter a lecturer with the University of Calabar and one Wofai Ewa, etc. On his part, Ewa has summarily described the facility as 'a real shame'. For Odok, there's no educational policy for the state, if there are, then it should be made public. Inyali has satirically appreciated both the governor and his deputy for the dilapidated structure.
Below their thread, a handful of Cross Riverians have registered their disappointment. What follows are their reactions:
Wofai Ewa
This is the famed Cross River State library, housed within the then Prison walls which held King (Oba) Ovonramwen of Benin Kingdom in Southern Nigeria in 1897, exactly 120 years ago.
Several years ago, I studied here along with several other great students who have gone on to record massive achievements in their various careers, nationally and internationally.
Sometimes I forget that  Cross River State is actually blessed – or maybe even cursed – to have 2 academic professors administering over the state as Governor and Deputy.
Well, there you go…the Cross River State Library Complex. A real shame.

Chi John

Shame is an understatement statement boss, back then in my secondary school days I did study there too but today is more or like a forest
Effanga Akpanika
That's why today's youths mostly walk around with sagging jeans, earpiece in the ears and tattoos. That library used to be so full in those days you won't see seat to sit down, but today….
Sekemi John
Shame to Ayade and Esu nobody should add professors title to their names. They don't know what it means.
Francis Rufus
I'm so disappointed by them.
Ajang James Esor
We need men to tell it to their face that they are disgrace to humane in accedemics  professors ohhhh
Adamade Peters
These men are really disasters to the existence of Cross River State.
Ishaka Joe
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Just laughing on my way to scorn! Two professors, indeed! I only know one, the second I am yet to know.
Adat Adat Obona
They are digital professors, they deal with e-library. They are more interested in electronic structures than physical. Blame them no more….
Ayene Lawrence
Shameless rulers who are not thinking about the youths rather concern about their pocket.
Emmanuel Orok
They are disappointment and a big disgrace.
Joseph Odok
I have written about the state of Cross river state library and things are still the same. Ayade just don't care and it will be to our peril giving him a second chance. See how two Professors are failing CRS with no educational policy. Can Ayade's aides please give us educational policy direction for the state? So much praise singing, yet nothing concrete to justify the praises
Ojah Amang
Quite a pity to our dear state.
Chris Inah
It is very unfortunate.
Peter Agbor
This use to be a beautiful place to go and read then. What happened? If the physical structure is like this, I wonder if they have stocked any new book there in the past 15 years. We now prefer doing carnivals, CELEBRATIONS & FEASTS than investing in educational development.
Inyali Peter
Behold the digital Library given Cross Riverians by two Professors who are themselves products of quality education.
Gov Ayade and Prof Esu thank you for this world class digital library. We're very grateful!
In a report submitted to the Ministry of ICT by the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria, among other things, it's observed that, 'In general many of the Libraries lack the necessary ICT facilities to provide quality service delivery in the information society'. Cross River State Library does not have enough books, is it the introduction of ICT that they'd? Whereas we have digital Governor. Hmmm!
