Red Card for Senator Rose Oko —by Simon Utsu

I join my voice with the plethora of disenchanted voices in northern Cross River to call on Senator Rose Oko to step aside next year. Her stay in the senate especially, has been used for family elevation as relatively nothing has been done for her constituents.
Apparently, she woke up from her slumber after two years in the senate about this time last year when I made several calls here on social media for her to sit up but that consciousness lasted for only three months or so and she has gone back to her default mode which is snoozing and snoring on duty.
Rose Oko may have the brains for legislation but she doesn’t have the heart for it —she’s too hardened to the plights of those even around her. Whilst her children and the kids of her sisters have been fixed (by her) into the CBN; the gist around town is that most of her staff who are graduates are wallowing in penury (abject poverty) and move around in rickety cars (tuke-tuke/jalopy) —in the midst of opulence! Paradox or an oxymoron?
Take a look at the attached table and tell me why Yala needs to occupy that seat again next year? It’s my honest opinion that either of Ogoja or Bekwarra or Obanliku should go for the senatorial seat in 2019. Ogoja has never held that seat before whilst Obanliku last held it in 2003.
So it’s a red card for Senator Rose and a substitution for Yala nation.
