#EndSARS: I’ll engage State, Federal governments on your behalf —Obong of Calabar

Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, the Obong of Calabar and Grand Patriarch of Efik nation has promised indigens and residents of Calabar the Cross River state capital city to engage the state and federal governments in response to the demands of the #EndSARS protest against police brutality, bad governance and injustice NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed. 
The Obong of Calabar made the disclosure through a press release dated Saturday 24th October 2020 and made available to our correspondent being signed by the grand partriach himself. Promising he said: 'On my part, I will engage the State and Federal governments on your behalf to make sure that the issues that led to these protests and ensuing raids are adequately addressed'.
He said that he was reacting at the instance of the angry raids the #EndSARS protest turned into in Calabar where there were 'raids on various warehouses, supermarkets and other public and private premises.'
Otu V who said he is saddened by the development, observed that he feels the anger and frustration of the protesters: 'I am saddened to see this development and want you to know that as the traditional father of Calabar, I see, I hear, I understand and I feel the frustration and anger many of you experience that have led to these protests and raids.'
The release quoted him to have said earlier 'It has come to my attention that yesterday Friday 23rd October 2029, peaceful protests in Calabar against police brutality, injustice and bad governance spilled over in anger into raids… I am saddened to see this development and want you to know that as the traditional father of Calabar, I see, I hear, I understand and I feel the frustration and anger many of you experience that have led to these protests and raids.
'It is important that you have expressed these frustrations in peaceful protests that have successfully gained the attention of the Government at State and Federal levels. 
'Having succeeded in gaining their attention, I appeal to you to please restrain your anger and bring a halt to the raids and allow the Government to address the issues that have led to the protests', the eminent traditional ruler said. 
Otu V while stressing the fact that Calabar is a home for all noted that it will be an unfortunate development for the protesters to destroy the communities, buildings, warehouses, homes including what he called special social and moral fabric.
Appealing to them, the traditional ruler said 'Please convey my strong appeal to everyone to end the raids and mayhem, call in any of our sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends, neighbors and communities from the raids… convey a deep gratitude to all who have restrained themselves from joining in the raids.
