Until the morning of Wednesday, there is a prolonged impasse along the Calabar-Odukpani-Itu federal highway as commutters, heavy and small vehicles, as well as motorcycles are stuck in the federal highway.
The impasse which reportedly commenced Tuesday had hundreds of heavy duty trucks, small vehicles, and persons moving to and fro Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
The traffic jam on the grossly dilapidated Calabar-Odukpani-Itu Federal Road is as a result of a truck carrying containers falling off, with the truck and the containers falling apart leaving a narrow path only a small vehicle at a time can pass.
Our correspondent witnessed over fifty but, distraught corps of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC who were in a dilemma over best decision to make.
The Calabar-Odukpani-Itu Road, the only road network linking Akwa Ibom and Cross River sparked controversy earlier this year when there was national contention around its inclusion in the 2020 appropriation law and subsequent award of contract to Julius Berger.
