Wednesday witnessed an unfortunate incident in Calabar the Cross River state capital city —the kidnapped of two ladies, one in Calabar South LGA, the other in Calabar Municipality.
According to a NAN reporter in Calabar, ‘A young lady was picked today at Mbukpa market in Calabar South, while the second lady was kidnapped this night at Atekong drive by Master’s Hair cut. The gunmen shot sporadically before taking her away, leaving her Highlander jeep behind.’
NEGROIDHAVEN has learnt that one of the ladies picked especially the one abducted at Mbukpa market is related to the owner of the popular Sparks Shop supermarket located at Etta Agbor road.
It is reported that kidnappers demand for as low as twenty thousand Naira for the release of their abductors.
Some have observed that kidnapping is a lucrative business in Cross River particularly under the present state administration: this brings the total number of persons recently kidnapped to nine.
Meanwhile, there was a show-of-force last week Monday by a joint team of security operatives in Calabar.
