Lion Asibong installed as Lions Club President, Vows to put kindness into action

With an aim to give back to the society, the Calabar Royal Lions Club, Lions Region 4, District 404A2 Nigeria, yesterday December 24, 2020 carried out her fund raising and the installation of her 3rd President, Lion Dr Inyang Asibong and her Board of Directors. The event which was streamed live via Zoom to curb the spread of COVID-19 was held at the Ministry of International Donor Cooperation Conference Hall, Calabar and was first of its kind in the history of Lions District 404A2 that attracted viewers across the world.

In her acceptance speech after the investiture, Lion Asibong who warmly welcomed Lions, Leos & Guests to the epic investiture ceremony, said “it is my privilege to serve as the President of Calabar Royal Lions Club for 2020/2021 Lions Service Year and I hope that we work together and increase the level of visibility of our Club to the wider Community despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lion Asibong further stated that the Club will continue with its distinguished tradition of humanitarian services to communities under team of the District for this Service year : “We Serve; Kindness and Diversity.”
As the world’s largest humanitatian service Organization, putting kindness into action and diversifying it in this current COVID-19 pandemic is what Lions do best and this is our focus to safely serve, she said.

She further stated that it is her determination to work in close cooperation and collaboration with all members of the club by respecting their ideas through accepting diversity; pointing out that the Club’s projects should give a leg up and touch many lives in a deep and lasting way as they continue to grow as a baby Club in harmony despite the challenge that will come.

Reiterating the Club’s projects for the Service Year, Lion Asibong said the Club has been on the forefront in service provision to the needy, notably medical, education, feeding of the poor, giving palliatives to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic, awareness campaign, curtail insecurity and climate change as well as reaching out to well wishers from all walks of life in assisting the needy in our immediate and distant communities.

The installed President thanked everyone for their support to enable the Club serve the needy in our society while also thanking everyone for making out time to witness the occasion.

The event had in attendance: the District Governor, District404A2 Nigeria, Lion Elder Sunday Eloma; Lions Region 4 Chairperson, Lion Margaret Edet; Zone Chairpersons, Lions, Leos and guests.

Highpoint of the event; Installation of Club Officers and Club President, handing over of Club properties by the outgoing Club President, Lion Martin Bassey and the installation of the outgoing President as the Immediate Past President of the Club amongst others.
