Joy returns to Cross River communities as State Gov’t, NEWMAP hands over design for construction of gully erosion sites to communities

The Cross River State Government in collaboration with NEWMAP have handed over the design and construction draft to communities in Ikot-Udua in Parliamentary and Edim Otop 2 with a view to commence work on the deadly erosion sites which have pulled down many buildings in the affected areas.

The State Commissioner, Ministry of International Development Corporation, Dr Inyang Asibong, who is overseeing the activities of NEWMAP in the state, told the communities that their dreams have come through.

Dr Asibong, who thanked the World Bank for the support to commence the project, said that the government was committed in alleviating the suffering of residents in the state who are threatened by gully erosion sites.

She urged the communities to corporate with the workers in order to deliver the work according to specification and time.

Mr Philip Nkanu, who spoke onbehalf of the Ikot-Udua community, thanked the state government and World Bank for coming to their aid at a point where they needed the intervention most.
