NAWOJ C’River marks Day of the African Child…Condemns rising cases of Child Labour and out of school children

Government, Non Governmental organizations and individuals have been called on to intensify efforts in ensuring that all African children obtain good education.

The Cross River State Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Mrs Umo Basi-Edet made the call in Calabar to mark this year’s Day of the African child with the theme “30 years after the adoption of the Charter: accelerate the implementation of Agenda 2040 for an Africa fit for children.”

Mrs. Basi-Edet emphasized on the need to create more awareness campaigns and sensitization of citizens on the importance of educating an African child.

Comrade Umo-Basi appealed to government and stakeholders to improve on the education system in Africa and create conducive avenue where the African child can learn how to read and write efficiently.

The State chairperson advised all the children to be of good conduct by placing priority on their academics and ensure that they shun cultism, rape, illicit drugs and all vices capable of hindering their future.

She wished all the African children around the globe a happy 2021 Day of the African child.
