Stanley Boyce Nsemo an aide to Gov Ben Ayade of Cross River who is the DG of State Electrification Agency, SEA has redirected the focus of Nigerians from whether Cross River South Senatorial District will produce a credible occupant for the office of Governor come 2023 to whether the said Senatorial District will be united in producing an occupant for such a high Office NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.

The former DG of CRISSA who was speaking at the recently held Town Hall Meeting organised by the Cross River South Coalition aimed at reaffirming the Calabar-Ogoja Accord of 1979/1980, informed that amidst the agitations that power should rotate back to Southern Cross River, is the fear of the disunity in the South. Nsemo therefore used the occasion to call on all southerners irrespective of political affiliation to speak with one voice and avoid betraying the interest of the south.

His words; “Having transverse and discussed with people across the state, from the shores of Bakassi to the hills of Obanliku, one thing that keeps rearing its head is the question, can the South stand together? That is the one thing that everyone keep asking me, can the South stand together?

“…But today, looking at this crowd, looking at the multitude of people that I have seen here, looking at the Chiefs, the elders and caliber of persons gathered here, I think that question have been answered and put to rest once and for all.”

Nsemo however, expressed optimism that the South will definitely be united to take over power come 2023. According to him, the mammoth crowd witnessed and the caliber of persons who came out to lend their voices as it concerns the subject matter is a sign that the South can indeed be united towards 2023 and beyond.

“It is a known fact the Calabar-Ogoja Accord is legal and binding, it is a known fact that it is the turn of the south to produce the next Governor of the State, what was unknown is if the South can speak in one voice declaring that “this is our opportunity this is our turn and we will go for it.”

The event which was well attended had all the 7 Local Government Areas that make up the South well represented with elder statesmen from both the Central and Northern Senatorial District of the State all declaring support and reaffirming the validity of the Calabar – Ogoja accord.

Highpoint of the event was the declaration for the turn of the South to produce the next Governor of Cross River State come 2023 and the reaffirmation of the spirit of Calabar-Ogoja Accord of 1980.
