The national president of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, just addressed a press conference today where he basically agreed with the series of articles I’ve written on Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami’s professorial fraud.

He said the national body has rejected the recommendations/findings of the FUTO branch of the association, which endorsed Pantami’s fraudfessorship, and that ASUU will constitute another independent probe of the scandal surrounding the fraudfessorial promointment.

This came on the heels of ATBU ASUU’s bold and courageous repudiation of its VC’s congratulatory message on Pantami’s fraudfessorial appointment and its insistence that the “promointment” violated due process and age-old academic conventions.

I’m delighted to know that in spite of the endemic ethical rot in the country, we can still rely on the sound moral judgment of a few people and organisations.

More than anything, though, I’m pleased to know that while FUTO ASUU is dead and compromised, ASUU is still morally and ethically alive and kicking at the top.
