The Cross River State Ministry of International Development Cooperation (MIDC) and the University of Calabar (UniCal) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Technical Support for the Ministry’s activities across the state, following a courtesy visit by the school authority to the Ministry recently.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, stated that the current University administration is desirous of partnering with critical institutions and MDAs of the government for optimal growth and development of the institution.

Showering encomiums on the Professor Ben Ayade’s led Government, Prof Florence Obi asserted that global donor agencies are tailored to working with MDAs for their programs, hence the need for the partnership with the MIDC.

Speaking further, Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Dr Inyang Asibong, who paid a return visit on the Vice Chancellor said the Ministry is saddled with a responsibility of interfacing with local and international donor agencies for sustainable development on behalf of the State in line with Governor Ben Ayade’s vision of attracting donor projects to the State.

Dr Asibong explained that the Ministry seldom outsources consultancy services, adding that the MoU with UniCal will further encourage the use of expertise from the University’s pool of well trained consultants.

The Memorandum of Understanding will open new frontiers for the institution to also participate and offer consultancy services to the numerous programs carried out by the Ministry in partnership with International funding agencies.
