Okpo-Ene made this disclosure through a letter he addressed to his colleagues where he announced that he has purchased his declaration of intent and nomination forms from the PDP in Abuja.

‘…I believe that the problems which plague our people can be solved with bold, competent, honest leadership, delivered with integrity, commitment and excellence.’

Further in the letter, Okpo-Ene highlighted two issues that would characterise the leadership he anticipates to offer the state: they bother on the values of truth, transparency and common sense; again they touch on public collaboration.

His words, ‘Some people may consider it a daunting task. They have overlooked several important facts.

First, Cross Riverians want a Governor who will address the issues with truth, openness, and common sense. I will never disappoint them.

‘Secondly, people are disillusioned with the current and present state of affairs in our state. They are looking for a new face, a new leader whose ideas work.

‘People are eager to see an aspirant who will talk with them—not to them. I plan to take my campaign to Cross Riverians, just as I did in Odukpani Local Government some years ago, when I ran to be Council Chairman, and with as much success. I served my people faithfully as a young man, initiating and completing human capacity building and infrastructural development projects relevant at time’, he said.
