A socio-political group in Cross River has described the endorsement of a former federal lawmaker from Cross River South as strategic NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.
Fusion196 with influence across the 196 political wards of the state has said that the unanimous selection of Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu as consensus aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC strategic, masterstroke, a milestone, apt and timely.
The group made this disclosure on Tuesday when she addressed a cross section of the press in Calabar the Cross River state capital metropolis.
In a press statement read by the Director General Mr Desmond Akpoke said on Tuesday, he said that ‘the endorsement of senator Otu by the APC is therefore a response to the yearnings and concerns of the people, reason why when the news broke out it was as though there was a Renaissance. His endorsement is a strategic masterstroke, and indeed a milestone, apt and timely.’
Continuing, ‘with utmost respect to all those who aspired in the APC political family for the governorship of CRS, it is undoubted that senator Prince Otu stands out and remains the best for the job of the governor of our dear State. He is one with the right attitude and temperament to navigate the part of bringing every one together into a strong and indivisible fold.’
While eulogising the state governor and APC state chairman, the statement observed that, ‘We want to profoundly thank His Excellency the Governor of our dear state for being consistent and deliberate in his back-to-south advocacy and for eventually endorsing senator Prince Bassey Otu in agreement with other stakeholders to fly the party’s gubernatorial flag. For truly the governor has demonstrated as always that he is a man of whose words he is bond.’
While fielding questions from journalist during the session, the group through Akpoke affirmed that, ‘I don’t think any politician in Prince Otu level, can defeat him. It is a track record. When you test a man’s capacity, in smaller things, you can trust him in bigger ones. I bet you Prince Otu 2023 will beat another aspirants.
‘As a senator, he gave cash donations of 500 naira, to almost 10000 people including lands in Cross River State. You can check. There is no ward in calabar south that prince Otu represented that you won’t see any projects. Legislators don’t do projects, they make laws, but prince Otu case is different.
‘His office was limited he is now contesting for a bigger office to accommodate all. Let get our PVC to vote prince. ” Other Political Parties their candidate said they will even vote for prince Otu in this elections’.
Senator Prince Otu, born in 18 October 1959 is a Nigerian politician who represented the Calabar Municipal/Odukpani constituency of Cross River State, Nigeria in the Federal House of Representatives from 2003 – 2011. He was elected Senator for Cross River South in the April 2011 elections, running on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He later defected in 2016 to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and emerged the Cross River South Senatorial flag bearer of the party in the 2019 election.
