P4P volunteers undergo storytelling training

Some members of a pro-peace civil society organisation in the Niger Delta region are currently undergoing a training in storytelling NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.

Designated volunteers associated with Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta, P4P have began a five day training on photography and video production with support from Partnership Initiative in the Niger Delta, PIND.

The training which is happening at PIND EDC Hall in Port Harcourt is organised for research and documentation officers (R&D), programme officers (PO), and central working committee (CWC) officers of the network aims at facilitating the storytelling capacity of these staff and leading volunteers.

According to the agenda of training, the capacity building will last for 5 days and will revolve around developing a media plan/creative brief, target audience mapping, camera basics, video production, elements of a good picture (still and motion), sound recording, video screening, post production, video editing, dissemination/distribution strategy of video products, and photography.

While addressing the participants, the lead trainer, Matthew Smart who is the Coordinator for Communications, PIND informed that the ‘training sessions will be mainly hands-on’.

In a related development, the management team of P4P who are officially referred to as Central Working Committee, CWC of the network comprising of nine officers (with each from the 9 states) across the nine Niger Delta region states of Akwa Ibom, Abia, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Imo, Ondo, Edo, and Delta, the nine state chapter coordinators as well as majority of programme officers, in April, underwent a professional training in mediation and conciliation at the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, ICMC Nigeria.

The ICMC training bothered on mediation, conciliation, Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR, negotiation, personality traits, effective communication, conflict analysis, etc.

The trainees are awaiting induction by the ICMC come November.
