A netizen by name, Tom Alims, has disclosed that Nigerians of Northern Cross River and northern Nigeria extraction have resorted to cost-effective measures of building their houses.
This is against the backdrop of a bag of cement selling for as much as N4,600.00 only.
According to Alims, Nigerians in Bekwarra and part of Benue state are using mud blocks and burnt bricks for building construction work.
His words, ‘I’ve been around my village for some days now and across the length and breadth of Bekwarra down to some parts of Benue State, I’ve noticed serious building construction work going on using the mud/earth block.
‘Some are using mud blocks and cement to chock. Others are doing it mud to mud. In all, they are saving themselves from the cost of buying cement at N4,600 a bag and sand which is very expensive now.
‘Using mud blocks or burnt bricks has proven over the years to be the most cost effective strategy to build for those who are humble enough to use this,’ Alim said.
