The ongoing Second Semester Examinations of the University of Calabar has been officially postponed by the Senate of the institution for two weeks.

The Registrar of the University of Calabar, Mr Gabriel Egbe in a release at the end of an emergency meeting of the Senate held at the Senate Chamber of the institution, stated that examinations will now commence from 23rd January, 2023.

The release disclosed that the apex academic decision making organ of the institution affirmed that registration remains a pre-condition for taking examinations and that students who fail to comply with the directive of registration of courses will not be allowed to write exams in the University.

To enhance a seamless registration process, the release hinted that the registration of students continues till January 18, 2023 when it will be shut down.

The release validated examinations already taken by duly registered students on Monday, January 9 and January 10, 2023, but added that those who did not register but wrote the exams will have their papers cancelled.

According to the Registrar in the release, Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments are to ensure that all results of Students are uploaded between January 10, 2023 to January 16, 2023.

The release added that any Head of Department who fails to upload students’ results up to date and courses that they are expected to register before the expiration of the deadline will be sanctioned.

The portals for uploading of results and that of Course registration would beautomatically shut down at the close of work on January 16, 2023 and January 18, 2023.

Two committees, Management and SUG, have been set up by senate to monitor the compliance of these decisions of Senate.
