Past and present students union leaders of tertiary educational institutions have endorsed the candidature of the All Progressives Congress, APC Cross River gubernatorial candidate for the 18th March 2023 governorship elections NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.

The group under the aegis of Forum of Past and Present Students Union Leaders on Monday addressed the public at the NUJ Press Centre in Calabar.

According to Comr. John F. Inaku Esq and Comr. Jerome Egbe, Ph.D who both spoke on behalf of the group, their hitherto reticent disposition as far as politics is concerned had left students and youths the receiving end of bad governance.

Prof. Franca Bassey of the University of Calabar, UNICAL okayed the candidature of Prince Bassey Edet Otu of the APC during the press briefing in Calabar

According to the duo, ‘The students’ Union movement in Cross River state have often shied away from engaging itself actively in supporting a candidate in an election. We had rather chosen to watch from the sidelines and try to mount pressure when there’s a lapse in proper representation. This disposition has always left us in the loop and at the receiving end of unfavorable policies.

‘But hence, we have agreed to engage actively and support a credible candidate who we can repose our confidence in and who will not fail our expectations. After much consultation, we have resolved that the only candidate who has the character, the competence and track record to deliver is Senator Prince Bassey Otu.

‘It is therefore our stand to support Senator Otu to serve the people of Cross River state. This decision is reached in the overall interest of our members, students and youth. We call on all students and youths in Cross River state to join hands with us as we are confident that only Prince Otu can deliver on the benefits of democracy,’ they stated.
