An alumnus of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has been selected as a member of an elite group of peace builders in Africa NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
Victor Okechukwu Chimezie, an anatomist made the list of 44 change-makers across West and Central Africa (which has over 20 countries) as a ‘Rotary Positive Peace Activator’ for the next two years.
Chimezie, who is a 2019 ambassador of the Institute of Economics and Peace, was part of those invited for a three day training which held in Lagos, Nigeria. The training session aimed at building more capacity in positive peace alongside participants from various countries with facilitators from the IEP.
He disclosed that the training basically drove at the spread of positive peace across the region within the next two years ‘we were taught on how to come up with capital projects around social change and peacebuilding too so it can be easy to carry out the task and do amazing projects. This is the sixth location as it has held in five other sub continents of the world.
In a chat with Chimezie, he said he hopes to scale up his development work through his pet project, namely, Mind Reformers’ Network and ‘various peace teams that I work and volunteer with to help build positive peace’.
