CALABAR FIRE OUTBREAK: Lawmaker assures constituents of forestalling future occurrences

A Cross River lawmaker has assured Nigerians that the state government will intervene in respect of the fire incident of Friday at the oil and pepper section of Bogobiri in such a way as to forestall future occurrences NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

Stanley Bassey Nsemo the Honourable member representing Calabar Municipality State Constituency while condoling with businesses and business owners who were affected by the conflagration said that such incidents will not occur in the future.

His words reads in part, ‘On behalf of my office and constituency, I express shock and sadness for the unfortunate incident and assure the victims of my resolve as well as that of the State Government not only to assist the victims of the incident but also to work with all stake holders and government agencies including the State Fire Service in the constituency to forestall future occurrence.’

He released this statement after an on-the-spot assement of the incident. During the visit, Nsemo noted that traders narrated their losses from the fire incident estimated to include over 100 bags of pepper and many drums of oil.

He decried the incessant fire outbreaks in the metropolis that has led to avoidable personal and financial losses to residents of the state.

Recall that on Friday the 16th June 2023, a fire incident occurred at the Bogobiri area of Calabar Municipality of the state.

Eye witnesses traced the fire incident to electrical surge within the premises.
