New Humanitarian Minister Assumes Office, Pledges Renewed Hope for Nigerians

Abuja, FCT – Following her inauguration by President Tinubu on August 21, 2023, the newly appointed Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, wasted no time in assuming her duties. Dr. Edu was welcomed to her new role by a gathering of enthusiastic staff, including the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and Heads of agencies, as well as a large crowd outside the ministry NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

During her arrival, Dr. Edu was briefed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, on the ministry’s activities over the past four years. Dr. Sani-Gwarzo commended Dr. Edu for her exceptional performance and highlighted the significance of her appointment on the ministry’s fourth anniversary. He stressed that her leadership is seen as a beacon of renewed hope for the ministry’s mission to address pressing issues affecting millions of Nigerians.

Addressing the gathered staff and management, Minister Betta Edu expressed her gratitude to Dr. Sani-Gwarzo and his team for their dedication and unwavering commitment to the ministry’s mission. She emphasized transparency, accountability, and a results-oriented approach in her administration.

“I believe in teamwork, active collaboration, and effective communication. The urgency of our task requires us to work together with unwavering determination and speed. President Tinubu’s charge during my inauguration is clear: Nigerians are looking for a renewed hope, and we must deliver on that promise. We have set ambitious goals, including the creation of at least 10 million jobs and a comprehensive poverty alleviation agenda. We are dedicated to meeting these targets within a few months,” Minister Edu stated.

She also lauded the team President Tinubu has assembled, describing them as capable, resolute, and result-driven individuals. The Minister’s commitment to the success of her mission was evident as she underscored the importance of swift action and tangible outcomes.

The Humanitarian Ministry, under Dr. Edu’s leadership, aims to alleviate human suffering and enhance the dignity of all citizens. The Ministry will be working in alignment with President Tinubu’s action plan to lift 136 million Nigerians out of poverty. With her track record of achievement and a history of successful leadership, Dr. Betta Edu is well-positioned to guide the ministry toward its goals.

The formal handover of documents and responsibilities from the outgoing administration was conducted by Permanent Secretary Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, mni, in the presence of ministry officials, agencies, and the media.
