OTU CELEBRATES BOKI NEW YAM FESTIVAL

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, has congratulated the Boki people on their new yam celebration and thanked God for a bountiful harvest NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

The Governor who was represented at the celebration by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey commented that the Boki people are some of the most hardworking Cross Riverians. The year’s annual new yam celebration which was hosted by Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong took place at Ogep Osokom.

The Governor, who promised the administration’s support for Boki, pointed out that two Boki sons who had been appointed commissioners were holding key positions. He promised that the Government will support the community as they worked towards completing the church edifice.

Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong who appreciated the presence of the Deputy Governor said Boki was a unique LGA that was bounded by 5 other LGAs. He said the LG boasted of great farmers and in Boki, one did not only eat the yam but also saw and felt it. He called on the state government to consider gazzeting the colorful event.

The celebration which was attended by MP, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, MP, Hon. Victor Abang, the Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, the Commissioners for Finance, Mr. Mike Odere, Commissioner for Industry, Dr. Marcel Angioha, Information, Erasmus Ekpang, Tourism, Arts & Culture, Hon. Abubakar Ewa, amongst others, was marked by dances, masquerade competition and other side attractions.
