In a remarkable display of academic excellence, two graduates from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) have achieved remarkable success in an essay competition on tunnelling held in Switzerland. Abigail Wogor and Emmanuel Ekanem have not only demonstrated their expertise but also brought honour to their alma mater and the nation as a whole NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

Their essay titled ‘UNDERGROUND SPACE USE AND DEEP TUNNELLING: A SOLUTION TO THE CHALLENGES OF SEWAGE MANAGEMENT AND FLOOD DISASTER IN CALABAR METROPOLIS, CROSS RIVER’ clinched top positions in the competition, underscoring their profound understanding of critical urban challenges and their innovative approach to addressing them.

The International Tunnelling Association (ITACUS) and ROWGA Think Deep Programme recognised the outstanding quality of their work and invited Wogor and Ekanem to Switzerland to discuss and present their essay. This invitation is a testament to the exceptional caliber of their research and the relevance of their findings on a global scale.

Abigail Wogor’s achievement becomes even more impressive considering her recent recognition as the best graduating student in the Department of Civil Engineering. Her exceptional academic performance and dedication to her field have undoubtedly played a significant role in her success.
