Dr. Inyali Peter, a former student leader and graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), is positioned to become the new national President of the Unicross Alumni Association.

The Electoral Committee, led by Chairman Comrade Victor Agbor and Secretary Comrade John Utibe, released a list confirming Dr. Inyali as the only candidate screened and cleared for the presidential race. Two other contenders were disqualified: Andrew Ntul for withdrawing and failing to attend the screening, and Jumbo Isek for not fulfilling the constitutional requirements for the position.

The official ratification is expected to take place during the 5th National Convention of the association scheduled for tomorrow, December 12, at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

Although Dr. Inyali acknowledged the announcement of his sole candidacy, he emphasized that his victory remains unofficial until ratified by the convention. He highlighted that convention attendees hold the ultimate authority in determining the association’s leadership.

“While I appreciate being the only candidate cleared for the presidential position,” he stated, “only a validly constituted convention can make me President. We have tirelessly worked to reach this stage, and if the convention chooses to ratify my candidacy tomorrow, we will react formally. However, it’s important to remember that the convention can still reject my nomination.”

With anticipation building, Dr. Inyali and all stakeholders await the outcome of the crucial convention, which will ultimately determine the future leadership of the UNICROSS Alumni Association.
