Calabar — The Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency (TRAMRA) has issued a stern warning against individuals or groups engaging in unauthorized enforcement of traffic regulations across the state. In a press release signed by the agency’s Director General, Umoh Effiong, TRAMRA condemned the activities of those operating outside the legal framework, describing them as illegal and unacceptable NEGROIDHAVEN can say.

According to the statement signed on 17th October 2024, the responsibility for enforcing traffic laws and regulations lies exclusively with TRAMRA, and any person or group carrying out such functions without proper authorization is committing an unlawful act. The agency has directed all those involved in these unauthorized activities to immediately cease and desist.

As part of efforts to curb these illegal practices, TRAMRA has constituted a special task force for regular patrols across the state’s roads. The task force has been mandated to arrest any individuals or groups caught engaging in unauthorized traffic enforcement.

The announcement also serves as a notice to law enforcement agencies, commuters, motorists, and the general public to be aware of the situation and ensure compliance with the state’s traffic regulations. TRAMRA has reiterated its commitment to ensuring order and safety on the roads, urging the public to report any suspicious activities.

“Anyone found violating this directive will be dealt with according to the law,” Effiong stated, reaffirming the agency’s resolve to maintain its regulatory functions without interference.
