Calabar – The Cross River State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ibor Otu, has lauded the Federal Government’s various efforts in promoting national values and enhancing social cohesion across the country. Otu made this statement during a press briefing held in Calabar on Tuesday, where he addressed journalists on the agency’s latest interventions especially touching on the national anthem and national values charter NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

During the briefing, Otu highlighted several initiatives championed by the NOA, aimed at instilling core national values such as patriotism, discipline, and a sense of community among citizens. He acknowledged the role of the federal government in fostering a unified Nigeria and urged Nigerians to actively engage in the ongoing drive to uphold these values in their day-to-day lives.

“The government has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the betterment of our nation through numerous programs and policies. However, it is essential that citizens take ownership of these efforts and contribute towards building a society that reflects our shared values of unity and integrity,” Otu remarked.

One of the focal points of the briefing was the agency’s campaign against misinformation, particularly in the digital age. Otu stressed the need for vigilance among citizens, encouraging them to verify the authenticity of information before sharing it online or offline to avoid the spread of false news, which can cause unnecessary tension and divisions within society.

“We cannot afford to let the rapid spread of misinformation derail the progress we are making as a nation. It is everyone’s responsibility to be discerning and promote only accurate information,” he said.

The NOA also reaffirmed its commitment to engaging with grassroots communities through various outreach programs aimed at sensitizing the public on key government policies, environmental protection, and promoting peace in local communities.

Otu concluded the session by calling on stakeholders, including community leaders, religious institutions, and civil society organizations, to collaborate with the NOA in ensuring the success of these initiatives, particularly at the local level, where the agency’s impact is most needed.

The briefing was part of NOA’s continuous efforts to bridge the gap between government policies and public understanding, promoting unity and development throughout the nation.
