Calabar –The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing internal strife as allegations of anti-party activities and high-handedness are leveled against Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the State Chairman of the party. The APC Legacy Group, comprising founding members, has expressed dissatisfaction with Eba’s alleged involvement in activities contrary to the party’s principles.

The APC Legacy Group, representing the roots of the party in Cross River, raised concerns about Eba’s handling of various issues, especially within the Calabar Municipality chapter. Iso Edim, the publicity secretary of the group, stated, “The state chairman of the party in Cross River state helped to harbor illegalities and anti-party activities in Calabar Municipality for a very long time.” Edim specifically pointed to instances of anti-party activities and embezzlement of election funds during the 2023 general elections.

Edim highlighted incidents in Calabar Municipality, citing cases of anti-party activities and financial mismanagement that were reportedly brought to the attention of the state chairman. However, according to the Legacy Group, these cases allegedly saw no resolution, contributing to a sense of discontent among party members.

The recent vote of no confidence passed by 20 chapter EXCO members against Emmanuel Mbora, a former chapter chairman, and the chapter publicity secretary added to the grievances. Despite this, Iso Edim expressed concern that Alphonsus Ogar Eba still recognizes Mbora as the chapter chairman, prompting a call for decisive action.

“I’m using this opportunity to call on you, the state chairman of the party, Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq., with due respect to your office, rise up to the occasion,” urged Edim. The APC Legacy Group is urging Eba to adhere to the APC constitution and address the reported illegalities within the party.
