RESOLUTIONS OF THE 3RD MEETING OF THE CROSS RIVER STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 20TH MARCH,2024 AT THE STATE COUNCIL OF CHIEFS CHAMBERS, CALABAR

The 3rd State Executive Council Meeting was presided over by His Excellency, the State Governor and Chairman-in-Session, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, with Commissioners and other members in attendance.

In his opening remarks, Governor Otu apprised Council of the commitment of his administration to extend road infrastructure and re-construction of internal roads to Ogoja, Ikom, Ugep as well as the completion of the Boki East-West road,Yahe-Ebo-Izekwe-Wanokom-Wanikade-Benue border road, Oban road in Akamkpa as well as Adiabor-Odukpani-Itu road, amongst other roads requiring attention in the State, adding that the Ogoja Stadium will be renovated as the Institute of Technology and Management, (ITM) Ugep and the Teachers Continuous Training Institute of West Africa(TCTI) Biase, will both be given priority attention while his People First robust agricultural revolution programmes in different crop areas will be sustained.

After exhaustive deliberations on different Memos presented to it by leave of the Chairman, Council granted approval to the following:

1. the Procurement of 108 Units of 3-Wheel Agricultural Tractors to boost mechanized farming by Small Holders Farmers across the State, thus creating employment and promoting food security.

2. the award of contract for the upgrade and rehabilitation of Ikom General Hospital to bring up all facilities to standard to meet the increasing medical needs of the people.

3. Council further approved the award of contract for the Completion of Headquarters of the Local Government Service Commission Building.

4. the award of contract for the re-construction of Ugep urban roads

5. approved the procurement of 10 NOs Transformers for the replacement of burnt Power Sub-Stations across the State as well as total rehabilitation of Odukpani-Akamkpa Electrification Network assessee under direct labour.

6. Council went on to further approve three Executive Bills for presentation to the Cross River State House of Assembly covering an amendment to the Cross River State Security Trust Fund Law 2010; a Bill to provide for the mainstreaming of Climate Change actions and establishment of the State Council on Climate Change and other related Matters and a Bill for the establishment of Cross River State Green Economy Commission and other related matters therewith.

7. To boost the Tourism drive of the administration, Council also approved special intervention for the restoration of KADA Cinema at the Marina Resort which was recently gutted by fire to sustain public confidence in the business.

In line with the administration’s drive for investment, Council granted approval for the following: Land Development Services by the Nigerian Agricultural Mechanization and Equipment Leasing Company(NAMEL); the revival of the Diary Farms at the Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort and 3D Digital Survey of the Obudu Ranch Resort in preparations for full restoration of business operations.
