SUGBWi Commemorates International Women’s Day with Inclusive Initiatives in Bakassi

Bakassi -Support for Girls, Boys, and Women Initiative (SUGBWi) marked International Women’s Day in Bakassi, a Cross River community with a dedicated event, embracing the global theme for 2024 – “Inspired Inclusion.” The Executive Director, Hon. Grace Bassey, emphasized the significance of recognizing and celebrating the diverse contributions of women worldwide NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

The theme underscored the importance of promoting inclusivity by embracing women of all backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, and identities. Hon. Bassey highlighted the need to create spaces where every woman feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute her unique perspectives and talents towards the development of socio-economic, socio-political and socio-cultural facets of society.

In line with the spirit of International Women’s Day, SUGBWi, under the leadership of Hon. Bassey, carried out impactful initiatives. The organization distributed food items and provided financial assistance worth thousands of Naira to physically challenged women, men, and windowed women in the community. According to Glory Etokeren of BTAN, this inclusive approach “aimed to uplift and support individuals from various walks of life”.

Bassey expressed the organization’s commitment to celebrating the achievements of women from diverse backgrounds. The event served as a reminder of the importance of working collectively towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Happy International Women’s Day was the resounding message from SUGBWi, echoing the global call to “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.”
