A socio-political group based in Cross River has cried fowl over the appointment of members into the governing councils of one hundred and eleven (111) tertiary educational institutions in Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to the group, namely, 3rd Force, the state has been marginalized despite being the only All Progressives Congress, APC state in the south south geopolitical zone of the country NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

In a press release signed by her spokesperson, Mennanse Esu-Edem, 3rd Force argued that the development where only 6 Nigerians of Cross River indigenization made it to the list of five hundred and fifty five (555) members of governing councils of tertiary educational institutions across the country in a recent presidential appointment is marginalising, disappointing, and deserving of condemnation.

“The 3rd Force… wishes to express its profound disappointment and unreserved condemnation of the recent federal appointments into the governing councils of 111 federal tertiary institutions, which have glaringly marginalized Cross River state”, Esu-Edem observed.

The spokesperson of 3rd Force in the press statement cited by NEGROIDHAVEN, further noted that the poor turn our of Cross River in the recent federal appointments had political undertones. Esu-Edem noted that the development was inspired by certain political factions aimed at undermining the authority of the state governor, Sen. Bassey Otu.

“It has come to our attention that a faction of bucanneer political carpertbaggers, is scheming to thwart the governor’s initiatives. This group is driven by selfish ambitions for the 2027 gubernatorial race, and their machinations have now come to light. Their actions are akin to throwing a spanner in the works, intending to create disunity and portray the governor as ineffective in securing federal appointments”, the spokesperson opined.

“We unequivocally state that such backstabbing tactics will not be tolerated. It is crucial for the prosperity of Cross River state that we present a united front and capitalize on our unique position as an APC stronghold in the South-South.

“To those shadowy figures who think they can undermine our governor and the will of the people of Cross River state, know this: We are not blind to your underhanded tactics, and we will not stand idly by while you try to pull the wool over our eyes. Your attempts to destabilize our state government and weaken our representation at the federal level are not only self-serving but also detrimental to the progress and development of Cross River state.

“Let it be clear that Governor Bassey Otu has our full support. We will not allow political ambitions and selfish desires to derail the good work being done for the people of Cross River. We urge all true sons and daughters of Cross River state to stand united against these divisive elements and ensure that our state continues to thrive under the capable leadership of Governor Otu”, 3rd Force continued.
