In a bid to boost local agricultural value chains, 320 women and youths in Cross River State have been equipped with vital skills under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agriculture Support Programme. Spearheaded by Her Excellency Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the RHI State Coordinator, the programme—championed by Her Excellency Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, CON—was rolled out across all three senatorial districts. Beneficiaries received comprehensive training and starter packs covering poultry, fishery, and crop farming, empowering them to actively engage in and transform the region’s agricultural landscape NEGROIDHAVEN can report.
Fishery beneficiaries received a tarpaulin pond, 200 fingerlings, feed, and medication, while those in poultry farming got day-old chicks, starter and finisher feeds, and medication.
Crop farming beneficiaries were provided with hybrid seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and essential farming tools, empowering them to establish productive agricultural ventures.
Additionally, 30 schools across the state benefited from the Young Farmers Club Revitalization Programme, receiving agricultural tools, fertilizers, and seedlings to encourage student participation in agribusiness.
